Quality Unit

Main objective of the quality assurance unit is to develop and maintain state-of-the-art procedures for assuring the highest quality of all of GTM’s output. First and foremost it will develop guidelines and standards for internal review of products, such as inundation mapping products or the global hazard map, to be published soon.

As the quality and scientific excellence is one of the main topics of the code of conduct for GTM members and collaborators, it will – together with the compliance and legal unit – contribute to the formulation of it.

Finally, it will provide key indicators for evaluating quality of experts to be solicited in consultations as well as products being developed by GTM members. The unit understands this effort as a community effort and will involve the relevant scientific community in developing reasonable, acceptable, feasible, and transparent criteria.
